Based on the cell phones form, they are divided into several types, i.e. bar, slide and flip cell phones. To know which is better, we must know the advantage and disadvantage of each type.
Most cell phones form available on the market is bar types. The basic form is a rectangle shape with some variations on keypad model, screen size, navigation key, etc. The advantage of bar type phone is they don’t have any moving part, thus they don’t have any hinge to worry about. The disadvantage of bar type is nothing protect the display and keypad from accidentally hit that can result in scratched display or unintentionally dial a number.
Flip cell phones use hinge to join the two parts of the phone. It is also commonly called as clam shell phone as they can be opened and closed like clam. The advantage of flip cell phones is they protect the keypad and the screen when the phone is closed. Besides that, many people think that flip cell phones is more fashionable. The disadvantage of flip type is there’s a possibility of broken hinge or damaged flexible cable (the cable that connect the two parts of the phone). Also, some people reported it is troublesome to use flip type as they have to open the phone to answer or make a call.
Slide phone types protect the keypad but not the screen when they are closed. You must slide the phone vertically, horizontally or swivel to open the keypad. The advantage of slide type is they look compact. You can answer the call without open the keypad. Slide type bring the easiness of the bar type while protect the keypad just like flip cell phones. The disadvantage of slide phone is they have moving part. So, there’s a possibility a damaged flexible cable or some loosen part.
After you know the advantage and the disadvantage of each phone type, now you can decided which is better for you. If you like flip cell phones, you don’t have too much worry about the hinge, because the manufacturer already tested the phone on factory before they launch the product on the market to make sure the phone is reliable to use.
