Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 Interface

Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570

At the first time we hold the phone, we feel that this phone is a bit wide. This is because the screen has big diagonal size; the screen size is 3.14 inches. On the bottom side of the screen, there are three buttons, which is the menu button, home button and back button. On the back side, there is a camera lens without flash, and speaker holes. The back of the phone using rough texture which make’s it not slippery.

The Screen

Samsung S5570 Galaxy Mini uses a 3.14-inch, 240 x 320 pixels resolution TFT capacitive touch screen, with 256.000 colors depth. The screen resolution used in this phone is small compared to the size of screen used. Usually for a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the diagonal screen is only by 2.8 inches max. This causes the display of images; especially the text looks big on Samsung Galaxy S5570, compared to other phones that use the same resolution but with smaller screen size.

Some people say S5570 Samsung screen looks a little bit unsmooth, but we think it is still in reasonable and still quite comfortable to use. In fact, with a large screen size, it will make it easier for us when we want to type using the virtual keyboard.

The colors displayed by the phone screen looks bright and still good enough to read outdoors. Because the technologies used are capacitive type, then the screen will be responsive when the user touch it with finger. In addition, this phone already supports multi-touch screen, so you can do pinch zoom or pinching the screen to perform zooming.

Performance and Gaming Capabilities

Samsung S5570 Galaxy Mini uses 600 MHz processor with 279 MB of RAM and is also equipped with a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) Adreno 200. Switching between menus run smoothly without lag and mobile phones can run well even though we have several applications open simultaneously.

Based on the specification, this phone is a worthy choice for those of you who want a mobile gaming phone at an affordable price. On this Samsung Galaxy Mini review, we tried to install 3D games: Need for Speed Shift and this game running well.

Camera and Video

Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 equipped with a 3.2 MP camera (2048 x 1536 pixels). The photo quality is quite good, but unfortunately the camera is not auto focus. This phone can also record video with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. If the phone is used to record from a long distance, the results looks not so good. But when used to record the object from short distance, the video looks pretty good, but unfortunately the video looks a little bit laggy, because it can only record 15 frames / second.

Audio Quality

Samsung S5570 Galaxy Mini is equipped with a mono speaker located on the back of the phone. By the time we set it at full volume, the sound is not broken and quite loud. For the speaker audio quality is quite good, but if we set at maximum volume, the sound becomes somewhat flat. When we use the original hands free, the sound hears well. The music instrumental can be heard clearly. In the music player you can set the equalizer with a choice of rock, jazz, classical, dance, pop, live, concert hall, wide, extra bass, clarity and there is also an option for 5.1 Channel Mode.

Samsung Galaxy Mini Review-Advantages and Disadvantages

Pros

  • Having a good performance at an affordable price
  • Using the Android OS 2.2 (Froyo)
  • The screen is large on its class and it support multi-touch

Cons

  • The camera is not auto focus and video can only record at 15 fps
  • Although it is already using the Android OS Froyo, but this phone does not support Adobe Flash on its browser.
  • There is no dedicated button for the camera

Review Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570-Conclusion

This phone is suitable for those of you who want to learn about mobile phones Android but don’t want to spend a lot of money (first time user). Although the price is affordable, but the features offered is not disappointing. You can find almost all the features that can be found at high end Android phone. The difference between Galaxy Mini with high end (expensive) Android phone is the performance, screen quality, material quality and of course the prestige 🙂

Currently I don’t know how much ROM size of Samsung Galaxy Mini. As soon as I know, I’ll tell you. I’m not a programmer, so I don’t know this stuff too much. However, why you want to know the ROM size? If you ask it because you want to install Android custom ROM (Custom Android OS), I think you don’t have to worry, because if I’m not mistaken, on Samsung Galaxy Mini, the custom ROM is sharing same memory with the internal storage.

So, if the custom ROM that you want to use has bigger size than standard ROM (standard OS), then you will have less available internal storage and vice versa. Anyway, correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks 🙂

I heard that though the speaker is good, the audio quality is bad when using headphones (check out gsmarena.com). Is it true? I want to buy it but this audio issue is holding me.

Well, it’s hard to tell, because every people has its own standard. But for me, I’m quite satisfied with its audio quality when using headphones. Overall, it’s ok for listening to music, and it’s clear enough when making call. Anyway, I quote some words from gsmarena: “decent when a pair of headphones is plugged in, which earns it a good overall mark.”. Thanks 🙂

Lovely phone, well worth its price!
The only thing that bugs me, is the stupid, totally redundant USB plastic cover, that will sooner or later come-off and will leave an ugly hole.
    Elementary Watson, Samsung.

Yeah, I have this phone. I can watch videos, play games, play music. I noticed it’s only 280MB RAM, not the 384MB RAM as earlier reported from GSM Arena.

I believe the rest of RAM is used for the system. Most of Android phones is like that. If the specification says the phone has 512MB, then the usable RAM for the user is usually below that. Regards 🙂

Are you already tried flash player for ArmV6? You can play flash content on Galaxy Mini using this modified version of flash player (might not work on standard ROM, but works well on CyanogenMod ROM). Regards 🙂
