Android user usually uses the launcher to change their phone or tablet interface. It is easy to download and install Android launcher from Market. However, if the user uses more than one launcher, there are still many people that don’t know how to switch from one launcher to another, or they don’t know how to switch back to the standard launcher.
If you are one of those people, then you better read this article, because we will teach you how to change Android Launcher. The first way to do it is going to application setting by pressing HOME Button > press MENU button > click Settings > click Applications > click “Manage Applications” > find the launcher application that you use right now > click Clear Defaults.
Note: This can also be used to “clear default” other applications.
By clicking Clear Default, whenever you press the HOME button, it will give you options to choose which launcher to use as image below.
Pay attention to image above, if you don’t give a check mark on “use by default for this action,” then every time the HOME button pushed, it will show a launcher option. However, if you give a check mark, then each time you pressing the HOME button, it activates the launcher that already chosen by the user (activate the default launcher).
Actually, there is another easier way to change Android launcher. It is by installing home switcher application such as HomeSmack (see image below). This application allows you to select launcher without have to clear default application through the Android settings.
If you want to select the launcher you want to use, you just simply press the “bent arrow” icon. To find further information about the launcher application, you can click the Android icon next to bent arrow icon.
To select the default launcher application, you just simply press the “Select default” button > give a check mark on “use by default for this action” > and then choose the best android launchers you want to use right now.
Besides changing Android launcher, Home Smack application is also useful to select default application for other applications. For example, to determine the default application for the internet browser program as shown below:
By selecting the default browser, then every time you click an active link, for example, link that you found in emails; the Android system will automatically open default browser application that previously been selected or determined. If the “use by default” is unchecked, then when you click a link, it will show an option to choose which browser to use to open that link.
